*** Ms. Arundhati Roy and Tsunami on her Gandhi speech... By- Dr. Milind Jiwane

*** Ms. Arundhati Roy and Tsunami on her Gandhi  speech ...

Some days before I was attending the function of Ms. Arundhati Roy’s public talk on “Prospect of peace in Post –Poll policy” organized by India Peace Centre at Shalon Hall, Hislop College Nagpur. In her speech, she said, “Upcoming government must make structural changes to hear public voice. Merely holding elections once in a five years and then forgetting will of the people and their interest is not democracy. According to her while describing elections as just as instrument which helps to elect democratic government. She warned the audience about over reaching of corporate world and how the ideas and personalities are being projected by media which is controlled by major corporate houses and business families. Right now the industries and corporate want hard state to further their agenda of mining, SEZ, big projects and for that they have channelized their energy by supporting pro-capitalist forces and denouncing all dissenting the audience.”
In her talk, she made a controversial comment on Mahatma Gandhi. She said that the history books which we refer to are not completely correct. The tour of Mohandas Gandhi to South Africa was sponsored by Birla at that time but it was not written anywhere in books. She also spoke about disproportionate publicity granted to Gandhi and his projection by pro-capitalists’ forces. She said, I am very surprised that who feliciatated him as “Mahatma”. Talking about the Minorities in the country, she said that we have reservation system here but still Dalit, Adivasi and other minorities are struggling to get fair treatment from upper caste. Similarly, the justice dispensation system in our country is also very slow and unsatisfactory than other country and without justice we cannot maintain peace.
During the talk, I asked a question to Ms. Arundhati that, “Have you any plan to maintain peace in India!” she replied “No.” But her Gandhi’s comment seemed very controversial for the Gandhi’s followers. They asked different question to Ms. Arundhati and she replied with the evidences of Gandhi’s literature. After that, these Gandhians found to be mum. On second day, they commented on Ms. Arundhati in daily news papers for showing their broad knowledge of Gandhi-ism. If these Gandhi followers are ready, they can call a big function and to invite her and other anti- Gandhist intellectuals. Let us make the surgery of Gandhi and his movement, ideas & philosophy. They better know that, Mr. Gandhi definitely seem to be naked.
Now, the thoughts of Ms. Arundhati Roy seem too changed.  Her study on Dr Ambedkar’s Witten book “Annihilation of Caste” is wonderful. And Dr. Ambedkar’s last dream was “Ideal Man, Ideal Society.” It is why Dr Ambedkar accepted Buddhism and expects the “Buddhist India.”  Ms Arundhati is still totally not accepted the peace ideology. She is attracted with revolutionary thinking. I expect from her that she must take charge of mission Buddha for global peace.
At last, if she supports our mission “Nationalism or India-ism,” it will be very helpful for strong India.  Our mission is to create feelings of India-ism. Our motto is to build strong India. Our motto is to respect our “Indian Constitution.”  Our mission is to convey the people for hanging the copy of preamble of Indian constitution in their home. One more our issue is to work for building the “Nation” and not the “Country.”
